Synopsis:
Reporter Dave Purdy is assigned to write a story on the Bat-Signal. He interviews Commissioner Gordon, Vicki Vale, and Batman himself to provide details on cases where the signal assisted Batman. However, Purdy wants a story in which the Bat-Signal saved a life without Batman's help.
Later the Bat-Signal is put on display in a museum exhibit. Purdy and Batman both attend. They then learn that Tiger Bishop has escaped from jail. Bishop enters the museum and shoots Batman, wounding him. Batman and Purdy take cover behind the bulletproof Bat-Signal. Purdy uses the signal to blind Bishop and capture him. Purdy has his story, but he doesn't know that Batman actually helped. The signal was not plugged in, so Batman made a quick wiring connection which enabled Purdy to use it to blind Bishop.
