Synopsis:
Tomar-Re, from his home planet Xudar, is trying to contact Hal Jordan to warn him about a cosmo-storm. The storm has just left Tomar-Re sector and now threatens Earth. The storm affects the power rings in strange ways, and due to the storm Tomar-Re’s communication can not reach Hal.

On Earth Pieface receives a letter addressed to Green Lantern. He shows the letter to Hal, and they discover it is a plea for help from the ruler of Granaco. It seems that Granaco’s neighbor Modora has released Sonar from prison, and Sonar is stirring up trouble.

After his release from a Modoran jail, Sonar was angered that his country had once again been forgotten. He visits his neighbor country, Granaco and asks to be made ruler of a new combined nation, combining Granaco with Modora. He would make the ruler of Granaco his assistant. After being kicked out for such a absurd proposal, Sonar now is threatening to use force against Granaco.

Green Lantern arrives in time to catch Sonar during his attack. Sonar uses a sonic illusion against GL, but it is unsuccesful. Unfortunately GL’s ring gives out just before he can nab the escaping foe. Green Lantern agrees to help Granaco’s ruler map out a defense plan, but when he begins his ring draws an image of Sonar shattering the emerald gladiator.

When Sonar attacks again, Green Lantern flys to intercept him. Again the power ring gives out on him, and Sonar’s weapon appears to shatter GL. However a power bubble appears around Green Lantern and saves him. He finishes off Sonar and turns him over to the authorities where he is happy to see that Modora got some press from his attack.

Tomar-Re is finally able to communicate with Hal. It seems that the Cosmo-storm caused the communication beam to affect Hal into drawing the image of being shattered. Warned of the danger, GL programmed his ring to create a bubble beforehand, in case his ring gave out. With the storm passed, the ring is now behaving normally.
