Synopsis:
A citizen of Atlantis is taken prisoner by an undersea creature. Aquaman pursues the monster to an area containing underground caves. He rescues the man when the creature suddenly disappears. In the beast's place appears Aquaman's old friend and mentor Kaltor.
Kaltor explains that he has been hunting the beast. He requests that Aquaman join him in hunting down and killing the beast. The Sea King hesistantly agrees, and a hunting party is formed.
Mera follows the group and when the beast reappears, she is captured. Aquaman realizes that Kaltor himself is the beast and doesn't want to kill his old friend. Kaltor regains human form and explains that the change is not voluntary and will soon be permanent. When he becomes the beast again, Aquaman is forced to slay him. When the beast dies, it changes back into Kaltor, who miraculously survives, cured of his cursed affliction.
