Synopsis:
Johnny's squadron defeats a squad of German bombers bound for London. One of the bombers signals surrender by lowering his landing gear. The enemy plane is escorted to the ground and taken prisoner. Johnny's squadron admits that they'd rather be shot down before surrendering. Johnny agrees.
While on a training flight with a rookie pilot, Johnny encounters enemy fire. He runs out of ammo and is low on fuel, but he won't surrender. A malfunction causes his landing gear to be lowered, so the enemy pilots believe he is surrendering. They force him down, where he explains that he didn't intend to surrender. A German mechanic confirms his story, so they allow Johnny to take off again, intending to shoot him down. Despite his predicament, Johnny evades enemy fire and crashes into another plane. He bails out over the water where he is rescued by the Allies.
