History:
Johnny Cloud was the son of a Navajo Indian chief who named him "Flying Cloud" after a cloud resembling an Indian brave riding a horse. Johnny often saw a cloud in this shape when he was a boy, and imagined himself to be the rider in the cloud.
From childhood onward, Johnny Cloud was the victim of prejudice for being an Indian. Even after he became a lieutenant and fighter pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War Two, he encountered mockery and condescension from his fellow pilots. One day, however, using brilliant aerial maneuvers, Cloud singlehandedly destroyed a large number of Nazi bombers. Cloud himself was saved from being killed by one of the Nazi planes by his patrol leader, Mack, who was fatally wounded in saving Cloud, and whose dying words were that Cloud would be his best possible successor. Mack's dying wish was honored, and Cloud had a brilliant career as leader of the air patrol known first as "the Happy Braves" and later as "C-for-Cloud Flight." Cloud continued to see the cloud resembling an Indian riding a stallion, and it inspired him in his missions.
When Cloud was eventually promoted to captain, he continued to feel himself to be the victim of racial prejudice. He wanted to be treated as an American first and as an Indian second. Cloud felt responsible whenever a pilot under his command died, and after a new pilot, "Wyoming," flying a plane alongside Cloud's, was killed in aerial combat, the guilt-ridden Cloud's own plane crashed, and he was picked up by Lieutenant Jeb Stuart of the Haunted Tank. Stuart had also picked up PT boat commander Captain Storm and the Marines known as Gunner and Sarge, all three of whom, like Cloud, now felt themselves to be "losers" due to past misfortunes. At the suggestion of Military High Command, these four joined forces to become a detached service task force code-named he Losers.
The Losers had a long and successful career as a team. Unfortunately, however, Johnny Cloud and the other Losers were killed in action in the final days of the Second World War.
Powers:
Johnny Cloud was one of the greatest fighter pilots of World War Two. He was also a superb athlete and a highly trained hand-to-hand combatant. He mastered many commando skills as a member of the Losers. While growing up amidst his tribe, Cloud also became skilled in horseback riding and various traditional Indian methods of combat.
