Comments:
Following this story, a Firestorm imposter appears in Justice League International #24 and Blasters Special #1. This must be an imposter because, both stories take place after Invasion, and both stories show Firestorm with his original costume. The real Firestorm was unable to form, as shown in this story. By the time, the real Firestorm is able to reform, there is insufficient time for him to appear elsewhere before assuming his new appearance in Firestorm the Nuclear Man #85. The identity of this imposter (or even acknowledgement that it isn't the real Firestorm) has never been revealed.
Synopsis:
Ronnie Raymond returns to Vandermeer University following his recovery from the effects of the meta-gene bomb. He is happy to learn that the after effects of the bomb have cured Lorraine Reilly of the radiation poisoning from which she suffered. However, he has not tried to form Firestorm since the cure took effect.
When Killer Frost escapes from one of the University laboratories, Ron tries to fuse with Mikhail. However, a psychic backlash causes the fusion to fail. This leaves Firehawk to face Killer Frost alone. Ron is able to help by turning a fire hose on the villain. Her own cold powers encase Frost in a block of ice.
Ron is left to wonder if he can ever become Firestorm again.
