Comments:
This issue is the first appearance of the post-Crisis Zatanna. Though her adventures appear to be a continuation from previous stories, the post-Crisis Zatanna is considered to be entirely independent from her Earth-1 counterpart.

Synopsis:
During a stage performance, Zatanna begins experiencing visions of her dead mother Sindella. Haunted by the visions, Zatanna decides to return to the hidden city of the Homo Magi. Accompanied by her manager Jeff Sloane, Zatanna begins the journey only to discover obstacles blocking her way.

After overcoming the magical resistance, Zatanna reaches the city and discovers the people are dying from a sleeping sickness. To save them, Zatanna dons the power crown once worn by her mother. She expels the curse and saves the Homo Magi.

Zatanna then visits the Shrine of Ages to find her destiny. However, Allura her father's old foe is waiting for her. She traps Zatanna in an illusionary paradise where she is reunited with her dead father. Zatanna breaks the illusion, but she is still unable to defeat Allura. With the help of her mother's spirit, Zatanna is able to overcome her own despair and free herself. She is then returned to Earth.
