Synopsis:
Clark Kent returns to Smallville to visit his parents. The conversation soon turns to the past. Martha reveals to Clark that she was married to Dan Fordman before Jonathan. Clark is shocked.
Jonathan then tells Clark the full story. He returned to Smallville after being a POW in World War II. He had known Martha all his life and still carried a torch for her. When he got back, Martha had already married Fordman, a wealthy department store owner. Fordman, however, was dying of lung cancer. He asked Jonathan to his office one day and laid out a proposal in which Jonathan could take Martha back.
