Synopsis:
After Morgan has defeated the Hawkmen, the mayor of a town of dwarves declares him a hero. He then shows Morgan the sword named Hellfire which the dwarves have been keeping safe for ages. The sword is missing a stone that was once embedded in the blade. The mayor says the stone was lost, but Morgan pulls the shattered Hellfire stone from his pouch. He had been carrying it since his battle with Deimos.
When Morgan places the pieces of the gemstone back into the blade, it surges with magic. The power then transports the Warlord back in time to the age of wizard kings. He finds Machiste and Mariah who have also been transported into the past. They have come to a sorcerer named Wralf to find a way back to Skartaris.
Wralf the Wretched carries the same sword as Morgan with the gem intact. A battle ensues between the Warlord and Wralf, pitting blade vs. blade. Morgan's blade eventually contacts the gemstone in Wralf's splitting it in two. Thus Morgan himself was the cause for the broken stone. The sword then acts on its own to kill Wralf.
Mongo Ironhand explains that the blade comes with a price. It must draw blood every time it is drawn. Morgan can return home by putting the blade back into its sheath, but Mariah and Machiste remained trapped in the past.
