The Janus Directive Part 8
This story is continued from Firestorm the Nuclear Man #86 and continues in Checkmate #18.
Synopsis:
Harry Stein and Wade Eiling join forces to send agents of Checkmate and the Atom Project in an all-out assault on Belle Reve prison. Their mission is to capture Amanda Waller. While Peacemaker and Major Force concentrate their efforts on the exterior of the facility, Valentina Vostok and Knight John Reed release the surviving members of the Force of July. This group then meets the Suicide Squad in battle. Elsewhere, Black Thorn hunts down Amanda Waller.
Meanwhile in orbit, Kobra prepares to utilize his microwave weapon to kill the inhabitants of Earth. Manhunter has infiltrated Kobra's ranks disguised as one of Kobra's ninjas.
Back at Belle Reve, Firestorm arrives on the scene and engages Major Force. As the battle reaches its apex, Amanda Waller dons the Medusa Mask and uses it to halt the fighting. She brings together the leaders of the various groups and reveals that Kobra is the true villain involved. A doppelganger was supposed to have replaced her, but she caught on and has been orchestrating events to gain more information on Kobra's plot.
