Synopsis:
Following his failures in both the Crisis on Infinite Earths and the struggle between Heaven and Hell, the Spectre is stripped of most of his power and returned to Earth. His spirit is once again linked to Jim Corrigan's body which has been found by Madame Xanadu and office worker Kim Liang. The link between Spectre and Corrigan is more powerful than ever, causing Jim extreme pain whenever the Spectre exits his body. After his resurrection, Xanadu and Liang help Jim set up an office as a private investigator.
During Corrigan's absence, his associates in the police department have become concerned. Louis Petrocci visits Jim's apartment and inadvertently releases an evil spirit trapped inside a ketchup bottle. The spirit then begins converting the detective into a killer. Elsewhere, the Spectre's return has been felt by members of the Cult of the Blood Red Moon. Though they oppose the Spectre, they seek to exploit the opening that his return has created.
