Synopsis:
Dr. Robert Crane and his assistant Chuck Grayson have developed an experimental robot body. When crooks break into their lab, intending to steal a potentially valuable invention, they shoot Crane, then leave empty-handed. Grayson acts immediately to save Bob Crane's life by placing the still living brain of the scientist into the metal robot body.
Before Grayson can learn if the operation was a success, police respond to a tip about the murder. The police find Grayson and Crane's dead body, so they arrest him for murder. After he is taken away, Crane awakens inside the robot body.
Crane takes a short time to adjust to his new condition. He then visits Grayson in jail wearing a mask and using the name Paul Dennis. Crane then vows to track down his own killers as Robotman and clear Grayson. After hunting the crooks for days armed only with the name of one of the killers, Robotman is able to locate the gang and force Mason, the gang boss, to confess. Grayson is released from jail. Robotman then decides to offer his services to the Justice Society.
