This story is continued from Superman #44 and continues in Action Comics #654.

Synopsis:
Batman contacts Superman concerning the radioactive ring he found in Gotham City. They trace the ring to Luthor. A search of his records leads them to Amanda McCoy, Luthor's former employee who deduced Superman's secret identity. Amanda is now dead.

Clark and Bruce then attempt a party thrown by Luthor in order to gather more information. Clark wonders if Luthor knows his secret. Intergang strikes at the party threatening to kill Clark and Lois Lane. Superman and Batman protect the guests, but the attack was a diversion to keep Superman from interfering in the capture of Cat Grant.
