Comments:
This story takes place in March 1948.
The original origin of Blackhawk (Bart Hawk) is shown as pages in a comic book in this story.
Synopsis:
Natalie Reed has been denied entry into the United States because of her former ties to the communist party. From Mexico, she begins writing about her shared adventures with Blackhawk during the war for comic books. The story has been altered to make Blackhawk an American named Bart Hawk. The other members of the team have been turned into racially offensive stereotypes.
The comic company becomes the focus of an anti-communist investigation headed by Congressman Dixon Millburn when he is tipped off by Jonathan Smeal, a letterer on the staff of the comic company. Blackhawk, who is now involved in a relationship with Connie Darabont, learns about his portrayal in the comics. He later receives a letter from Reed offering a brief explanation for her situation.
