Synopsis:
The New Guardians gather in China following the defeat of the alien invasion force. They mourn the loss of their teammate Jet. Betty Clawman appears and warns that Floro, Gloss, and Ram are having dark feelings. The team then splits up.
Gloss visits her former village. She uses her powers to save some children. While sleeping that night, she unconsciously begins causing earthquakes which destroy the village. Ram tracks down his own father in Japan. However, their reunion does not go as planned. Ram's father disowns him, Takeo is then kidnapped by his father's business rivals. Floro also encounters rejection too when he visits the Parliament of Trees. With each of the three in peril, Betty awakens them from the nightmares she induced with the intention of teaching them to rededicate themselves to the team.
Harbinger and Extrano then rejoin their teammates. Harbinger has discovered that Tom Kalmaku has been captured while searching for his wife. Extrano has found a crystal skull which focuses his power. The team sets out to rescue Tom when they are caught in an explosion of black light.
