Synopsis:
Hal Jordan returns to Coast City for his job as a traveling salesman. He is reunited with Tom Kalmaku who now owns a chain of gas stations. Hal is quickly forced into action as Green Lantern when an oil rig explodes. After containing the damage, GL receives the congratulations of the mayor. During the meeting, he is reintroduced to Carol Ferris.
Green Lantern takes Carol away from the crowds. He learns that she has broken off her engagement to Jason Belmore. They kiss, but GL is still uncertain, so he leaves. Green Lantern's behavior confuses Carol. She gazes at a sapphire brooch Jason gave her and becomes Star Sapphire again.
Sapphire causes the oil well to blow up again. This time Green Lantern has a difficult time containing it. After doing so, he returns to his hotel where everyone is gripped in hysteria. He eventually discovered Star Sapphire is behind the attacks. He tries to force her reversion to Carol, but the Sapphire banishes him into space and wipes his mind of the knowledge that he is Green Lantern.
