Fury of Firestorm #50 establishes the adventures of Captain X as having taken place on Earth-1.

Synopsis:
Buck Dare is a reporter for the Tribute, an American newspaper functioning in London. He ia assigned to get a story on Captain X, a mysterious pilot with a uranium powered plane that aids the R.A.F. in battle with the Nazis. Buck is Captain X. He decides to take his plane, Jenny, across the English Channel in hopes of capturing a Nazi officer. Captain X finds the Nazis and uncovers their plot to dam the channel in advance of an invasion of Britain. He foils the plot, captures a Nazi officer, and calls in an air strike which destroys the underwater dam.
