Synopsis:
Psychologist and chess master Michael Krugor turns to crime. He arranges with Cardwell Bates, a wealthy man who has fallen on hard times to steal a valuable emerald from his wife. Krugor pays Bates then tries to have him killed. Doctor Fate comes to the rescue, but Krugor is able to capture Fate. He the forces the Doctor to play a game of chess with real people as pieces. Fate beats Krugor's game and rescues Inza who is being held at gunpoint by the villain. Once Krugor is in custody, Bates confesses his part in the emerald theft to his wife. They agree to sell the jewel legally to pay Bates's debts.
