Synopsis:
Slam’s friend and restaurant owner George receives a threat to pull his money out of an investment. Slam offers to investigate the threat by speaking with another investor, Orry Mayhew, who is in the hospital from a bullet wound. When Slam reaches the hospital he becomes suspicious of Orry, who claims that he fixed the hospital records to show his treatment was for appendix observation.

On the way back from the hospital, gangsters try to run Slam down. He and Shorty escape with their lives and continue to investigate Orry. Their search leads them to a theatre which will be reopened if the investors don’t pull out. Slam discovers the theatre is being used to store stolen goods. The gangsters return, but Slam escapes again. Finally he turns Orry over to police with evidence that he was behind the storage of the stolen goods. His wounds were faked in order to get the other investors to back out.
