Synopsis:
Hal Jordan is flying a test plane over the proving grounds when he is radioed by his boss, Carol Ferris. Carol requests Hal to drive her to Pine City later in the day. During the drive, Carol relates a dream she has to Hal. In the dream, she attempts to get Green Lantern jealous by marrying Hal. She is disappointed when GL does not show up to stop the wedding. As the now married couple drive off, an emergency strikes and Hal is forced to reveal himself to Carol as Green Lantern.
As Carol finishes her story, the car they are riding in falls over a cliff and Hal is forced into action to save himslef. Carol was knocked out prior to Hal using the ring so his secret is safe. Wondering what happened to the road, Hal investigates and discovers gigantic footprints. He switches to GL and follows them.
He runs across two scientists who reveal that in their experiments with cosmic rays they inadvertently created a creature which is threatening the city. Green Lantern quickly finds the creature as it’s destroying a nearby bridge. It is incredibly powerful and zaps GL with yellow eye beams, rendering the hero powerless.
The creature continues it’s rampage and even an army tank is powerless to stop it. GL has enough time to recover and formulate a plan. He creates a giant test tube which blocks the cosmic rays which give the creature it’s power. With it’s power source blocked the creature shrinks back to normal.
Hal returns to his car with a doctor for Carol in tow. Carol learns of GL’s adventure through the newspaper and concludes that Hal couldn’t be Green Lantern.
