Synopsis:
Stuttering stable boy Brian has a chance encounter with King Edwin and is given the position of apprentice to Sir Grot. A weakling himself, Brian seeks to help the underdog while training to become a knight. When Edwin is later murdered for the crown by his brother Sir Oswald, the king leaves behind a scroll which claims a champion will rise to represent him.
Brian completes his training with Sir Grot, then follows his hawk Slasher into Forest Perilous. Brian discovers a chest containing the king's armor. He dons the armor. Then he is called to action after the king's guards murder Lord Penbrook. Brian goes into action to protect Lady Celia Penbrook from the guards. He fears his stuttering speech will reveal his true identity, so he remains a Silent Knight. He protects Celia, and the one surviving guard reports back to Oswald that King Edwin has returned from the dead.
