Comments:
Arthur is called Doctor Smith throughout this story, but the name on his door is Arthur Light. This brings into question whether his real last name is Smith or Light.
This story shows that Jacob Finlay was the inventor of the Doctor Light costume. After his death, Jacob appears as a phantom. However, this phantom is only a figment of Doctor's Light's imagination.
Synopsis:
When the power in his apartment goes out, Doctor Light is forced to confront a ghost from his past. He recalls being a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs with his partner Jacob Finlay. Arthur was having financial troubles, so he sold scientific secrets to Mr. B. His partner, fascinated by the newly formed Justice League, created a costume and became the hero Doctor Light. Jacob, as Doctor Light, catches Arthur in the act of stealing, but lets him go.
Arthur later returns to the lab and witnesses his partner's death in an accident. He is then haunted by Jacob's ghost. Driven mad, Arthur finds Jacob's costume and uses its light-based powers to drive away the ghost. He then becomes a super-villain.
Back in the present, Doctor Light restores the power and drives the ghost away. His neighbor has been listening at the door. He hears Doctor Light talking to himself proving that Jacob's ghost only exists in Arthur's mind.
