Synopsis:
Hal Jordan has been imprisoned on the world Golgotha where he is repeatedly struck by near lethal bolts of lightning. He sent his power ring to John Stewart on Earth in hopes of rescue. Instead the ring returns to him alone. Hal puts the ring back on, but the lightning and other conditions have weakened his will power. Eventually Hal musters up the power to escape.

Green Lantern returns to Earth to confront Star Sapphire who has successfully faked her own death. However, an alien creature has now stolen her sapphire gem power source. When Hal arrives he is knocked out by the alien without even seeing it. When he regains consciousness, the alien, the gem, and Star Sapphire have all disappeared.
