Comments:
This story is continued from Warlord #121.
Synopsis:
DeSaad has discovered a new mineral in Skartaris that boosts the firepower of weapons by a factor of ten. Darkseid dispatches his forces to conquer the hidden world and begin mining the mineral for use. Lightray who has been held captive by DeSaad escapes. He then tells Highfather of Darkseid's plans.
Highfather sends Lonar to seek out Travis Morgan. The New God then helps the Warlord mount a defense while the other New Gods marshall their forces. When the forces of Apokolips attack, the armies of Skartaris fight them, but they are overmatched.
While the battle rages, Y'smalla attempts to assassinate Machiste. Tara, who has escaped the dungeon, stops her. The two women fight it out, until Y'smalla finally flees. Machiste is shocked to learn that the villainess has been impersonating Tara all along.
Lonar tries to contact Highfather using a Mother Box, but it does not work. Morgan takes the Mother Box and is able to send a distress call. The New Gods arrive in time to rally the defending armies. The forces of Darkseid are driven back into retreat and fail in their mission to take Skartaris.
