Synopsis:
Gunner and Sarge are haunted by the constant attacks by enemy commander Colonel Hakawa. The attacks continue day and night which prevent the soldiers from sleeping.
Eventually, American troops take over the island where Gunner and Sarge are stationed. Hakawa is not found, but the war is soon over. Gunner and Sarge are discharged, but still feel haunted by their memories of Hakawa's attacks.
The ex-marines are then approached to play soldiers in a war movie. They return to the island upon which they were stationed, only to discover Hakawa is still there. They are holding fake weapons for their movie appearance, so Hakawa seems to have them cornered. Fortunately, they find a cache of explosives with which to fight back.
Gunner thinks he has finally gotten Hakawa, when Sarge wakes him up. Gunner had fallen asleep and dreamed about the war ending. Gunner and Sarge are still stationed on the island, and Hakawa remains a constant threat.
