Synopsis:
Bank teller Lazarus Lane is bullied by a trio of rowdy drunks. When he returns to the bank, it is robbed by the Hangman's Gang. Another bank teller and Lazarus's friend Albert is shot and killed defending the bank. Lazarus did nothing. After the incident, Lazarus wishes he could avenge his friends death.
Later, Lazarus is attacked by the men again. They are part of the same gang that robbed the bank. This time Lazarus prepares to stand up for himself, but he is suddenly struck by lightning. Lazarus is taken home and receives care from his friend Wise Owl. He remains in a nearly comatose state for days. When he finally rises, Lazarus assumes the masked identity of El Diablo.
A short time later, El Diablo rescue an old miner from outlaws. The outlaws are also part of the same gang. El Diablo protects the old man and the widow Ellie Vickers from the gang. He finally succeeds in killing the gang leader, an outlaw who was hanged, but survived.
