Synopsis:
The Shining Knight recovers a stolen ruby for a rich miser, Bagby. Bagby had offered a reward which Sir Justin intended to donate to charity, but the miser reneges on his promise. When the ruby is stolen again, the Shining Knight offers to retrieve it only if Bagby really donates money to charity. The miser grudgingly agrees.

The Shining Knight tracks down the thief, Chunk Chuckles. The crook briefly captures Justin, but the Shining Knight prevails. When he returns the ruby, Bagby gives him ten dollars.

Disgusted by the miser's meager donation, the Shining Knight tells Bagby about Sir Kenhelm, Bagby's ancestor. Bagby had been proud of his ancestor, until the Shining Knight explains that Kenhelm was only a cook, and a bad one at that. The miser then offers to donate a substantial sum to charity in order to keep Justin from telling the story to the newspapers.
