Chapter One

This story continues in Action Comics Weekly #624.

Synopsis:
After a recent move to San Francisco, Captain Marvel responds to a report of an armed car robbery in which the crooks belong to a white supremacist organization. In attempting to stop the crooks, Marvel puts his hand in front of a gun barrel just as the crook fires on one of his hostages. The gun explodes, killing the crook.

Billy Batson returns home, distraught over having killed a man. His boss calls and tells him to follow up on the survivors. Billy tracks down Dawn McCullers, the daughter of the dead thief. She explains that her father joined the group after they lost their farm. Billy offers to help her by keeping her brother Duane from joining.
