Comments:
Vic Sage reads the Watchmen graphic novel in this story. He identifies with Rorschach whose character is based on the Question.
This story is continued from Question #16 and continues in Question #18.
Synopsis:
Vic Sage visits the city correctional facility when he learns that a lawyer from Seattle has come to defend the assassin who tried to kill Izzy O'Toole. While Vic is waiting, the lawyer breaks Sundance, the assassin, out of jail using plastic guns he smuggled past security. Vic pursues the crooks who make their escape in a helicopter. Vic clings to the landing gear, but eventually he falls off. His fall is broken by an old man who is killed when Vic lands on him.
Following the incident, Vic pieces together clues about the crooks. The phony lawyer used the name Robert Leroy Parker which was the real name of Butch Cassidy. Vic then flies to Seattle to find Butch and Sundance. After questioning an informant in a Seattle bar, Vic is assaulted by the man. Vic barely survives the fight.
The next day Vic becomes the Question and finds the man who attacked him. He demands answers about Parker's whereabouts. However, a second man takes him from behind. The two men, Eddie and Skinny, then take the Question into the mountains to dispose of him. Vic escapes and leads them on a chase in the snow. He is rescued by the Green Arrow.
