Comments:
This story continues in Wonder Woman #184.
This story indicates that Hippolyta is the daughter of Ares which makes Wonder Woman his granddaughter.
Ching sets foot on Paradise Island as does Ares and his legions. The Amazons are not affected by this, so Aphrodite's law must not be in effect while Paradise Island is in another dimension.
Synopsis:
An Amazon returns to Earth to bring Diana back to Paradise Island. Diana and Ching make the the interdimensional trip. Diana then learns that Ares has brought war to the Amazons and placed her mother in a coma. Ares wants the secret of interdimensional travel, so that he can return to Earth and regain followers. Diana refuses to give up the secret as her mother did before her.
Ares then sends his armies against the Amazons. Diana leads the defense. The Amazons suffer many casualties, but survive the battle. Hippolyta was kidnapped during the fight, forcing Diana to rescue her. The Amazons then prepare to make a final stand against Ares in a mountain pass.
