Synopsis:
While Ray Palmer is attending a costume ball with Jean Loring, the party is robbed by a man in an iron mask capable of paralyzing the guests. After the robbery, Ray analyzes evidence and determines that the mask used ion radiation to inhibit the victims. Ray is able to add radiation to his Atom costume that will neutralize the ionic effect if they meet again.
When the bandit strikes again, Atom tries to stop him. However, the thief is able to make his getaway without being caught. Atom looks for similarities between the two robberies and a third crime at which he was not present. He concludes that Ed Jameson was present near all three robberies.
Atom contacts Jameson and stay near him. When the bandit strikes again, Jameson is nearby, allowing the Atom to intervene. This time Atom stops the masked man, who is revealed to be Bill Jameson, Ed's brother. Unique brainwaves given off by Ed allowed the ion mask to work which necessitated Ed's presence during the robberies. Bill is then taken to jail.
