Synopsis:
When Lana begins to get more suspicious of Superboy's secret identity, Clark begins acting even more timid than usual. Cyrus Vanding, an eccentric explorer, offers to test a theoretical way to make Clark more courageous. Clark pretends the experiment works in order to fool Lana.
When Clark begins acting bold and brave, Lana changes her theory and begins suspecting that Freddie Taylor is Superboy. The Boy of Steel then is forced to protect Freddie from Lana as she attempts to expose him as Superboy. In doing so, Superboy helps Freddie overcome his own fears. Clark then pretends that Vanding's treatment has worn off. Lana's suspicions are once again thwarted.
