This story claims that Aquaman was given his powers by a scientist.

Synopsis:
A harmful chemical which causes temporary insanity is accidentally released into the water. Aquaman avoids the chemical, but the nearby divers think he swallows it. The divers believe Aquaman is now insane. Despite his best effect to convince them otherwise, Aquaman is hunted down by the divers. Each time he makes a rescue, the divers become more convinced of his insanity. Finally, Aquaman makes a mistake during a rescue, but the diver involved thinks Aquaman acted correctly. The manhunt is called off, and Aquaman's sanity is no longer a concern.
