Synopsis:
Mr. Element, a recent foe of the Flash, has escaped jail. While he was in prison, he learned from his cellmate the existance of a special stone. After his escape, Element located the stone and discovered it to be the mythical philosopher’s stone which can transmute elements. Mr. Element has now taken the name Dr. Alchemy to reflect his new methods.
Alchemy’s first crime is a bank robbery. Flash, having been alerted to the jail break by Iris West, arrives in time to confront Alchemy. Unfortunately he is unable to stop the crime because Alchemy uses the stone’s power to slow him down.
Flash is able to trail Alchemy back to his hideout, but he walks into a trap laid by his foe. The walls have been turned into crystal which creates a blinding glare. Flash is able to overcome the trap by shattering the crystal, but Alchemy has already slipped away.
For his next crime, Alchemy has created a diversion across town. Flash sees through the diversion and arrives again to confront Alchemy. He is again slowed by the powers of the stone but he overcomes the problem and captures Dr. Alchemy. Before turning his foe in to the police, Flash throws the stone into space.
