Synopsis:
After stopping a bank robbery, where the crooks use a force field powered by a special electrical cable, Metamorpho traces the power source. He finds that the crooks have hooked up the cable to other potential heist targets. Metamorpho finds the generator at the far end of the cable and destroys it.
Kurt Vornak, the scientist responsible for the forcefield and former associate of Simon Stagg, vows to take Metamorpho out of action. He eavesdrops and learns that Simon Stagg is developing a machine that will cure Rex Mason. Vornak attempts to tamper with the machine, but instead causes an explosion.
The explosion transforms Vornak into an energy being. Metamorpho tries to stop the creature, but finds his powers ineffective. The energy being begins attacking Simon Stagg's enterprises, causing objects to revert to their basic building blocks. Java is reverted back to a fossilized caveman when he is caught by the creature.
Rex finally conceives of a way to beat the creature using an atomic explosion. Simon gives Rex a detonator, and Metamorpho transforms himself into fissionable material. The controlled explosion destroys Vornak and Metamorpho as well. Stagg collects the remains of Metamorpho and the fosilized body of Java, planning to revive them both.
