Comments:
This story is continued from Firestorm #95 and continues in Firestorm #97.
Synopsis:
Firestorm breaks free of the shadow in the land of Ife. From the shadow rises a dark version of himself which drains his energy. The trickster god Eshu then appears. He sends Firestorm to Orunmilla, another god of Ife. Eshu then willingly enters the shadow.
Orunmilla meets Firestorm on a mountain. He explains the history of the land of Ife. It was created by Mawa and populated by many gods. They later created the lower lands populated by mortal men. Obatala, lord of the white cloth, visited the lower lands regularly. On one such visit he has killed. The gods of Ife including Shango, sought retribution and destroyed the mortals. They then severed the link to the lower lands.
Now, Ife is threatened by shadow due to their loss of outside connection. Firestorm has reopened passage to the lower lands when he summoned Shango. Firestorm agrees to help fight the darkness in Ife, while Shango walks the land of mortals.
