This story is continued from Detective Comics #601 and continues in Detective Comics #603.
Synopsis:
After losing the signal from his tracking device, Batman spots gangster Rafe Kellogg. He follows him to the home of Tenzin who has summoned a Mahakala to protect himself. One of Kellogg's men is killed, while Kellogg and the other flee. Batman is unable to protect Tenzin who is seriously injured. He is also unable to stop the Mahakala who leaves to pursue Kellogg.
Realizing that supernatural elements are in play, Batman turns to Jason Blood for help. Blood who has recently been rebound to the demon Etrigan refuses to help. However, Blood's associate Randu Singh, offers his help.
