Synopsis:
When an alien beast emerges from a cave and begins attacking members of an archaeological dig, Rip Hunter and his team travel back in time to 500 B.C. to learn where the creature came from. When the team arrives, they witness another beast controlled by a Greek dictator, Demades. Demades chases off Rip and Jeff, while inside the time sphere, Bonnie and Corky are harassed by the original beast.
Rip meets an alien game hunter, Nytok, who reveals that each beast is controlled by a control gun. Nytok uses the control gun on the beast attacking the sphere, a Snaar, and then uses the beast to attack the Furol which is under Demades’ control.
The Snaar becomes trapped in a cave-in where it will be released in the future, but Nytok is captured by Demades. Jeff uses a third control device to command a third beast, called a Dred. While his partner uses the Dred against the Furol, Rip tackles Demades and regains the control devices in the man’s possession.
With both beasts under the command of the time team, they rescue Nytok and turn the creatures over to him. Rip takes the Snaar’s control device back to the present to tame the remaining beast. When the beast has been subdued, the controller is also able to destroy the beast ending the threat to civilization.
