Synopsis:
Byth hires ninja-assassin Carl Sands to steal Hawkman's command ship and destroy his mothership. Sands is equipped with a generator which allows him to change into a shadow creature. Hawkman and Hawkwoman borrow a shuttle from Darl Klus and reach the mothership. Sands destroys the shuttle, but the Thanagarans reach the command ship.
A freighter then emerges from hyperspace. Shayera takes the command ship to confront it, while Katar boards the mothership to deal with the Shadow-Thief. However, Sands has planted a bomb on board. While Hawkwoman is busy fighting off the freighter, she watches as the ship with Katar and Sands inside is engulfed in a blast of light.
