Synopsis:
While swerving to avoid a traffic accident, Green Arrow drives his truck into a river. He, Green Lantern, and the Guardian are fished out by a passing cargo ship. The ship is carrying toxic waste from a factory to be disposed of. When a fire breaks out on board, Green Lantern is injured. The Guardian is force to choose between saving Hal or saving the ship. He chooses to save Hal. As a result, the toxic cargo from the ship is thrown in the river, causing harmful pollution.
After Green Lantern has recovered from his injuries, the Guardians appear to accuse their compatriot of making an illegal choice. The old-timer is to be sent to the planet Gallo for judgment. Green Lantern and Green Arrow travel with him as witnesses.
When the trio arrives on Gallo, they discover that the planet has been taken over by robots under the control of a master mechanic. The real court members have been imprisoned. The mechanic orders the Guardian's execution, followed by that of his friends. Although they turned over their weapons upon arrival, Green Arrow creates a makeshift bow and arrow which allows their escape. Hal recovers his ring and uses it to save the Guardian.
When the rightful order is restored, Green Arrow convinces the council to reconsider their role as judges. The old-timer agrees to stay behind and deal with any consequences that his fellow Guardians impose.
