History:
Blackbriar Thorn was the high priest of one of the greatest of the ancient Druidic sects, leading them in sacrificial rituals, until his cult was at last slain by the invading Roman legions. Seeking to elude his Roman pursuers, Thorn slipped away into the woods during the massacre and used his arcane powers to transform himself into solid wood, hoping to be missed among the surrounding trees. Unfortunately for Thorn, the other Druids, in their death-throes, unleashed some sort of natural upheaval, creating a fissure in the Earth which swallowed the high priest whole.
Centuries later, Thorn was ultimately unearthed by famed archaeologist Professor Lewis Lang, and revived by his own residual magic and the light of the full moon. Although trapped in his wooden form as a result of his millennia-long imprisonment, Thorn was otherwise unimpaired, his awareness and mystic abilities seemingly undiminished.
Powers:
As a Druid, Thorn has complete control of the elements, and is able to conjure forth snow, storms, or dense fog in instants. He is also a master of illusion, and is able to increase his own size to monstrous proportions through contact with the Earth. Losing that contact greatly diminishes the Druid's power, and can ultimately lead to his destruction.
It took the combined efforts of Superman and the Demon to finally defeat Blackbriar Thorn and, presumedly, destroy him.
