Little is known of Big Bear's early life on New Genesis. The eldest of the Forever People, Big Bear first came to Earth in pursuit of Beautiful Dreamer, who had been kidnapped by the evil Darkseid. After freeing Dreamer, with the aid of Superman and the enigmatic Infinity Man, the Forever People decided to remain on Earth for a time to learn about the planet and protect it from Darkseid's evil schemes.
After numerous adventures on Earth, the Forever People found themselves pursued by Devilance, an assassin under Darkseid's command, and were forced to use their unique ability to trade places with the superpowerful Infinity Man in an effort to save themselves. In the course of the battle, though, Devilance and the Infinity Man were apparently destroyed, leaving the Forever People trapped on the idyllic planet where Infinity Man had been resting when summoned. Intrigued by this tranquil paradise, and sensing adventure, the Forever People went forth to explore their new home.
Powers:
A skilled hand-to-hand combatant, Big Bear is also among the strongest of the children of New Genesis, making him superstrong by human standards, capable of bending steel and hurling giant redwood trees almost effortlessly.
Big Bear's atomic structure is reinforced by a constant flow of so-called high-density atoms, and he is also able to store an excess of free-flowing atoms which he can direct at will to reinforce the power of his already awesome punch.
Big Bear is also the pilot of the Super-Cycle, the incredible vehicle which is the Forever People's principal form of transportation. Able to soar soundlessly through the sky as well as reshift it atoms so it can pass through solid objects, the Super-Cycle is also capable of phasing, traveling the electron stream to a new destination in a matter of moments once Big Bear has programmed new coordinates into the Cycle's handlebar computer.
The Super-Cycle is in frequent contact with Mother Box, a so-called living computer possessed by the Forever People, which gives various forms of assistance to the children of New Genesis.
