Teen Titans
Teen Titans

Name: Teen Titans
Universe: Post-Crisis
First Appearance: Legends #1

History:
The dimension of Azarath was in dire trouble. Azar, the healer/empath who founded the pacifist sect, learned of the coming of an inter-dimensional demon. This creature, known as Trigon, sought not only the destruction of all dimensions, but the reclaimation of his sole surviving child, Raven.

Raven had been born to Arella, a woman who, lacking any direction, sought to join a Satanic cult. Submitting herself to mystic ceremony, Arella saw a charismatic man appear before her. He seduced her and Raven was born nine months later. The man metamorphosed into the demon Trigon, who returned to his dimension waiting for Raven to grow to maturity.

Eighteen years later, Azar, sensing Trigon's return, sent the young empath to Earth to find a team of super-powered teens to enlist in Azarath's battle against the demon.

Raven brought together members of a group who, several years earlier, had called themselves the Teen Titans. (Earlier members of the original Teen Titans included Robin, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Mal Duncan, Hawk and Dove, and others.) There was Batman's partner, Robin, who was a master tactician; Kid Flash was perhaps the second fastest man on Earth only after his mentor, the Flash; Wonder Girl could fly and possessed the strength of the Titans of Myth; and the Changeling was the Titans' youngest member who at will could alter his form into that of any animal.

Along with these former members of the Teen Titans came the half-man/half-robot called Cyborg, the alien princess from Tamaran known as Starfire, and Raven herself.

These seven teens became the New Teen Titans and successfully battled and banished the demon Trigon.

Over the years, members changed or left the group. Kid Flash returned to his home town of Blue Valley for college. Robin remained group leader, taking the new identity of Nightwing. A mute known as Jericho had the power to physically possess his victims. Danny Chase, a telekinetic, joined the Titans but was soon forced to leave. Terra, a young girl who could shape and control the earth, was briefly a member but was soon discovered to be a traitor and almost killed her teammates before she died. Another Titan who died was Kole, a teen-age girl who could project objects and weapons made of crystal.

Wonder Girl learned of her connection with the Titans of Myth and against her own wishes, became the goddess Troia, while Jericho was taken over by the Trigon-possessed energy beings of Azarath and killed many of his friends before he was slain by his own father, the mercenary known as Deathstroke, the Terminator.

New members joined the Titans after Jericho's demise. They include the Russian powerhouse known as Red Star, the mystic being who calls himself Phantom – psychic amalgam of Danny Chase, Arella, and the now-cleansed energy force of Azarath. The deadly Pantha stays with the New Titans, but for reasons that she has kept to herself. Finally, an artificially developed Wildebeest infant whose power is as great as his mental capacity is small rounds out the current membership.

The New Titans membership remains in a state of flux, constantly changing and evolving.
