History:
In the 6th Century A.D., southeast of the Thames River in England, there was a small kingdom jointly ruled by Sir Edwin Kent and Sir Oswald Bane. Sir Edwin liked to engage in mock combat for sport. Sir Oswald, who sought to rule alone, secretly gave Sir Edwin defective weapons, and slew the noble knight "by accident" in mock combat.

Sir Edwin's death left his fifteen year old son, Sir Brian, an orphan (Brian's mother having died years before). Brian now became the ward of Sir Oswald, who ruled with an iron hand, but as Sir Edwin's heir Brian would rule with Sir Oswald.

Sir Oswald decreed that Brian must prove his worthiness to rule by earning knighthood under the tutelage of the aged Sir Grot, Sir Edwin's friend in battle. Brian proved to be a brilliant student of the skills required for knighthood, but Sir Grot treated the youth harshly and made him seem foolish whenever Sir Oswald was watching them. Sir Grot feared that Sir Oswald would have Brian killed if he ever became a full-fledged knight.

One day, while chasing Sir Oswald's escaped falcon Slasher into the Forest Perilous, Brian found a shining suit of armor, a sword, a shield and a winged-helmet. When Brian saw some of Sir Oswald's men menacing several travelers, he donned the mysterious armor and helmet, and put sword and shield to the evil men. Thus Brian first became the Silent Knight. He was silent because he never spoke while in armor, lest a member of the court recognize his voice.

The Silent Knight achieved great fame and became a symbol of freedom to those citizens who were oppressed.

Sir Oswald saw the Silent Knight as a threat to his iron rule. Lady Celia, on of the travelers the Silent Knight originally rescued, fell in love with the mysterious armored figure, but never suspected he was the unadventuresome Sir Brian.

The Silent Knight lived at the time of King Arthur and had adventures that involved Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin and even the evil Morgaine Le Fey.

The ultimate fate of the Silent Knight has yet to be revealed.

Powers:
The Silent Knight has no super-powers but he is a superb hand-to-hand combatant, a brilliant swordsman and an excellent horseman. He was also trained to read and write, a rarity for that time period. The Knight also possesses the ability to lead, and inspires great hope from the masses.
