History:
All that is known of the origin of the criminal mastermind known as the Ultra-Humanite is that he gained his tremendous intelligence as a result of a scientific experiment. Ultra was once a bald cripple who masterminded various criminal operations to finance his plans to dominate the world. These operations often brought him into conflict with the Golden Age Superman. Finally, in battling Superman, Ultra was seemingly killed by his own misfiring weapon.
However, Ultra's brain was transplanted into the body of the kidnapped film actress Dolores Winters. Ultra abducted scientist Terry Curtis and forced him to build an atomic-powered disintegrator with which Ultra threatened Metropolis. Superman again defeated Ultra and rescued Curtis.
The Ultra-Humanite gave superhuman powers to Amazing-Man, Curtis -- who became known as Cyclotron and served Ultra unwillingly -- and Deathbolt. These three aided Ultra in his scheme to extort millions of dollars from the U.S. government in 1942 by sabotage and assassination. Amazing-Man and Cyclotron finally aided the All-Star Squadron in opposing Ultra, who was seemingly killed by Cyclotron, but the Ultra-Humanite again survived.
His later exploits during World War II are still unknown. After the war he again opposed Superman as Winters and in the body of a gigantic flying ant. More recently, Ultra had his brain transplanted into the body of a large mutated ape, and organized a new version of the Secret Society of Super-Villains, which battled the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America. Subsequently, the Ultra-Humanite made another unsuccessful attempt to get revenge on the JSA. When last seen, the Ultra-Humanite was aboard a space shuttle he had hijacked, which, however, had been programmed to head directly into the sun.
