History:
Little is known of Roy Raymond’s early life, but he was still a young man when he began hosting the TV show Impossible—But True! Presumably he had a good-sized fortune, which had for some time enabled him to travel the world over and amass an array of artifacts that made his large home a veritable museum.

Finding strange facts was one thing—but because of this, Roy was often the target of hoaxes. He became so brilliant at exposing such hoaxes that he was known as the "TV Detective." With the backing of his assistant, Karen Colby, he went through many exciting adventures, sometimes even creating hoaxes himself to aid the police in trapping criminals.

Then came the day Roger Rivers appeared on the show. He claimed he had a teleportation machine and asked Roy what he should materialize. Roy chose a kangaroo and it appeared. Roy vowed to expose Rivers as a charlatan on the next show—but that was the last time Roy was seen for several years.

It was Superman who ultimately discovered the truth. Rivers had kidnapped Raymond and was controlling Raymond’s brilliant, analytical mind to reshape the world. He boasted of causing fanatics to launch suicide attacks, making a hijacker blow up a plane—with himself in it—and setting off bloody revolutions in a half dozen countries.

Superman, however, let Roy’s brain waves into his own mind., merging two and allowing Roy to break free and defeat Rivers.

Morgan Edge immediately offered Roy a chance to revive his show, and the "Impossible Man" signed a contract to work for Galaxy Broadcasting. When last heard of, he was still appearing weekly—though whether Karen is with him now is uncertain.

Powers:
Roy Raymond had his fantastic mental powers only while under the domination of Rivers. However, he still retains a brilliant analytical mind. He could be a great detective but prefers investigating different sorts of enigmas. His body is well trained, and he can hold his own in a scrap when necessary.
