Synopsis:
Charles McNider visits Dr. Rackham about a possible cure for blindness. Rackham is unable to help McNider, then is called away to help some injured miners. Dr. Mid-Nite enters the mine to help the workers escape. He finds evidence of sabotage and a previously undiscovered vein of coal. Someone in the mine tries to kill him, but fails. When Dr. Mid-Nite returns to the surface, he names Ruger, the mine manager as the saboteur. Ruger hoped to keep news of the new coal vein a secret, so that he could buy back the mine cheaply and profit.
