Comments:
This story was originally titled: "Superman’s New Power".

Synopsis:
Superman encounters an alien spacecraft buried underground. It explodes near him and changes his powers. Now whenever he wills it, a tiny duplicate of himself comes forth from his hands. The duplicate maintains his powers, while he himself is powerless.

Superman becomes jealous, when the new being becomes popular with people. He believes it is just an extension of himself, but others treat it as a separate person. The duplicate eventually perishes saving the Man of Steel from a Kryptonite meteor. When it dies, Superman’s powers return.
