Synopsis:
While on an expedition in South America, Lewis Lang discovers several mythical creatures including a unicorn, a kraken, a roc, and a griffin. He takes pictures of the creatures and sends an announcement to the world. When his picture are unexpectedly ruined, Lang is discredited and his discovery is denounced as a hoax.

Seeking to rebuild his reputation, Lang stays in the jungle to look for the creatures again. Superboy comes to his aid and discovers the creatures himself. Superboy learns that they are robots, but he doesn't know why they were created.

To protect Lang's reputation, Superboy locates a real griffin. When the expedition sees it, Mr. Strand approaches it without fear. When he discovers that it is real, he admits to having created the robots. He was hoping to ruin the expedition because they were close to discovering a radium deposit that he wanted for himself. Lang's reputation is thus restored with the capture of the real griffin.
