Synopsis:
Blue Beetle is confronted by his Manhunter sleeper agent, Overthrow. When his Justice League signaling device goes off in the middle of their fight, the Beetle retreats. He attends a meeting with the League who need someone to go to Iran to protect Salima Baranizar, a woman selected for the Millennium Project. Ted volunteers since his company has an office in Tehran.

Using a passport supplied by the League, Ted enters Iran and contacts Dome agent Henning Anderssen. He is told that Salima has been taken to a prison after she told religious leaders about the visitation by the Guardian.

As Blue Beetle begins his rescue operation, he meets Catalyst, an agent of Klaus Cornelius who was sent the Kord Industries in Tehran to recover an experimental compound hidden in the facility. Catalyst tries to kill Beetle, but is pushed out a window. As soldiers surround his foe, the Beetle enters the prison and breaks out Salima. He promises to take her to America. Salima does not want to go and runs from the Beetle. She runs into the street and tells her people about the Guardian's visit. The people call her a blasphemer and stone Salima to death.

Blue Beetle then returns to America having failed in his mission.
